Our Passion

Phillip Chisholm-DeVeau began his jewellery career in 1985 as a junior goldsmith in Saint Catherines, Ontario. Guided by his passion for craftsmanship, he pursued further expertise through the Canadian Gemmological Association, earning certifications in diamonds, gem grading, and jewellery appraising under the mentorship of renowned gemmologist Donald Goodier.

Throughout his career, Phillip gained invaluable experience with both national and private jewellery retailers, refining his skills in customer relations and business management. In 1993, he took a pivotal step by relocating to New Brunswick, where he became head goldsmith for E.A. Lamy and Company, a boutique firm known for retail sales, custom designs, and wholesale repair services. In 1996, Phillip's entrepreneurial spirit led him to acquire the company, rebranding it as The Jeweller’s Studio.

Under his visionary leadership, The Jeweller’s Studio became an innovator in sustainable jewellery practices, pioneering in-house casting and gold recycling. Phillip was among the first to repurpose clients' gold, while also offering bespoke pieces with custom gold tones, including personalized pink and green gold.

His influence extended beyond the workshop, as he taught jewellery courses in partnership with the University of New Brunswick, contributed articles on gemstones to the local press, and inspired young minds through high school career programs.

In 2002, Phillip relocated to Toronto to join Mark Walter’s Jewellery Design as lead consultant, while also teaching at George Brown College's Continuing Education program, where he shared his wealth of knowledge with aspiring jewellers.

In 2008, Phillip and his husband, David, launched Phillip Chisholm Creations, specializing in hand-knotted pearls and imaginative gemstone jewellery. This venture further fueled Phillip's passion for design and creativity.

​

After retiring from the bench in 2013, Phillip turned his attention to helping small and micro-businesses thrive by founding Spectrum Total Operations Inc. Through this venture, he provides mentoring coaching, operational consulting, and accounting management services, empowering entrepreneurs to grow and succeed.

Since moving to Stratford, Ontario in 2019, Phillip has continued to support the entrepreneural community offering valuable insights and expertise to foster innovation and growth within his community.
